Football has always united Goa and one such example in these unprecedented times has come from the Gaur Army, an FC Goa supporters' group based in Margao.
The registered NPO formed in 2018 has taken up the task of providing free lunch and dinner to the needy in the lockdown forced by the rising coronavirus cases in the State. The meals include rice, sabji, dal, fruits and bottled water for the homeless.
Also, special thalis are provided to frontline Covid warriors like doctors, police force, nurses and other emergency services workers like ambulance drivers.
The FC Goa fan club has been working round the clock to provide these nutritious meals. The Gaur Army has been also helping patients to get online information regarding the availability of oxygen, beds and oximeters for home isolation.
The areas covered by them currently include South Goa District Hospital, Ravindra Bhavan, ESI Hospital, Margao municipal jurisdiction. The supporters' group is also looking to extend their services to Maina Curtorim and Sao Jose de Areal in the coming days.
