Goa Mavericks SC defeated Survivors SC Blue six-a-side all-Goa hockey tournament for men in the 40+ age category organized by Goa Mavericks SC held under floodlights at the Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa.
The tournament saw four teams participating in keenly contested matches with Goa Mavericks Sports Club topping the round-robin league on goal difference followed by Survivors SC, Blue and Survivors SC, Red. BPS SC, Margao finished fourth. The top two teams made it to the final.
In the final, Goa Mavericks SC defeated Survivors SC Blue in the tie-break after both teams were tied 0-0 at full time.
In between matches, two exhibition games featuring U-14 boys and girls were played. The skills displayed gave hope of a bright future for Goa hockey.
Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira was the chief guest. Atul Pai Kane, President of Goa Mavericks SC gave away the prizes.
