Goa Medical College, Bambolim and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa won the men's and women's title, respectively, in the Goa University Inter Collegiate Badminton Championship 2023-2024 held at SAG Indoor Stadium, Peddem recently.
In the women's finals, St Xavier’s College defeated Goa Medical College 3-1. Najida Shaikh beat Sachi Kerkar 11-6,11-8,11-6; Stuti Shivani defeated Abigail Cunha 11-5, 6-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-8; Arundhathi Ramesh defeated Leona Lobo 11-6, 11-3, 11-2, while Najida Shaikh defeated Abigail Cunha 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 12-10.
In the men’s finals, Goa Medical College, Bambolim defeated Don Bosco College, Panaji 3-0. Maeron Pereira beat Ashwin Kunkolikar 11-8, 11-3, 14-12; Kartik Iyer defeated Shounak Paiginkar 11-4,11-3, 11-8, while Darin Fernandes defeated Laban Menezes 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
The Best Player in the men's and women's categories was awarded to Kartik Iyer and Najida Shaikh, respectively
