Goan Warriors prevailed over Augustias Sporting Club Pomburpa 6-5 via the tiebreaker and emerged champions in the 2nd ABC Arambol Cup inter-village football tournament held at Arambol Church Ground, Arambol on Monday.
Abhram Fernandes opened the scoreline for Augustias in the 5th minute, than Goan Warriors equalised through Sunil Dessai in the 27th minute. Goan Warriors further inflated the lead through Sunny Parab in the 39th minute but the joy was short-lived as Anthony Fernandes of Augustias levelled terms in the 50th minute.
In the tiebreaker, Goan Warriors proved to be better shooters.
The winner collected Rs 50,000 and runner up collected Rs 35,000 plus trophies.
Best Player of the tournament - Sunny Parab (Goan Warriors); Best Striker of the tournament - Anford Fernandes (Augustias Sporting Club); Best Goalkeeper of the tournament - Sanji Bugde (Goan Warriors); Best Defender of the tournament - Umesh Pujar (Augustias Sporting Club); Best Disciplined Team - United Club of Nerul.
Chief Guest Jit Arolkar, Mandrem MLA gave away the prizes to the winner and runner up in the presence of Dr Caitano Fernandes, GFA President; Jonathan de Souza, vice president, GFA; Uday Lingudkar, Omkar Vaigankar, executive member, GFA, panch members and organising committee members.
