Goans Hockey defeated Hockey Andhra Pradesh 5-1 to register their second successive win in the 15th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2025 at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Goans Hockey opened the scoring in the 7th minute in the Pool B match through Thrishul Ganapathi H.
Ayyaz Khan added the second one in the 23rd minute while two minutes later Mahadev Agni Naik made it 3-0.
With a minute to go for the final whistle Venu Gorrela Gopal pulled one back to make it 3-1.
On resumption in the second half, Sahil Chari scored a field goal in the 38th minute to make it 4-1. Goans Hockey made it 5-1 with two minutes left for the final whistle with Issub Sayyed getting his name on the scorers list.
This is the second successive defeat for Hockey Andhra Pradesh having lost 13-1 to Hockey Chandigarh in their opening match.
Hockey Chandigarh leads the five-team Pool A with a better goal difference having won two matches, yesterday they edged Telangana Hockey 2-1.
Pool A consists of Hockey Chandigarh, Goans Hockey, Telangana Hockey, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Uttarakhand.
Goans Hockey are in the second spot behind leaders Hockey Chandigarh on account of inferior goal difference.
