Goa’s siblings Katya and Dwayne Coelho will reaffirm their supremacy in the IQ Class and Keona Rajani will try to wrest her Kitesurfing title during the All India Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Championship Goa 2025 organised by Bord Sailing Association (BSA) and Premier Kiteboarding Association at Vithaldasvaddo in Morjim Beach from Thursday.
A total of 45 athletes from all over India registered on Wednesday with teams from Mumbai, Bhopal, Odisha and the Indian Navy from Goa joining individuals from as far as Tuticorin who will race to show their prowess on sea.
Katya Coelho from Goa will go all out to prove her domination in her class whilst brother Dwayne will need to shrug off the challenge from boys from the naval academy in Mumbai and Goa.
Keona Rajanai who lost her title to Kira Zucher last year appears confident to wrest the title back. “I am confident of myself. Despite having taken ill a while back, I am sure I will be able to not only enjoy the races but win the title,” asserted Keona.
Despite his age, Goa’s Derrick Menezes is not giving up and claims he carries the basket of surprises as he has done in the past championships. “For me, it’s always about camaraderie first and winning next,” admitted Derrick.
