Samrudhi S Patil from Goa delivered a stellar performance at the 68th School National Taekwondo Championship, winning the gold medal in the -52kg weight category.
The tournament, held in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, saw Samrudhi overcome strong competition to claim the top spot.
In her impressive run, Samrudhi won all her bouts by a 3-2 round scoreline. She won her first fight against an opponent from Gujarat, then beat a player from West Bengal) and got the better of a player from Maharashtra in the third fight. In the semifinal, Samrudhi beat a player from Uttarakhand) before getting the better of a Manipuri opponent in the final.
While Samrudhi secured the gold medal, Manipur took the silver and Uttarakhand and Maharashtra shared the bronze.
Samrudhi's success at the national level was made possible with the support of a dedicated team, including coaches Vijay Mokashi, Devendra Kumar Lamani, Kishan Mahale, and Shivaji Patil, as well as manager Dyneshwar Dessai.
Samrudhi received congratulations from Arvind Khutikar, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, for her outstanding achievement.
