Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola defeated Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim by 9 wickets to move to the finals of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men Championship at Goa University cricket ground, Taleigao.
The Toss was won by Government College Khandola who elected to field.
Rosary College, Navelim posted 99/9 in 20 overs. Suresh Sharma: 24(24) and Ajay Raj 21(34) could only manage to put up a competitive score after Abdul Mashal (5/18) and Tanish Khedekar (1/9) showcased an excellent bowling attack for Khandola.
In reply, Government College Khandola made light work of their opponents by chasing the target down with ease in 9.2 overs.
Rishab Phadte Gaonkar 56(29) and Shardul Shet 33*(24) made sure their team had a cake walk to the final.
In the second semi-final, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi by 35 runs.
Opting to field, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi restriced Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, Assagao to 156/9 in 20 overs.
In-form Yash Gadekar 87(66) was yet again the stand out performer followed by Yash Manjrekar 24(26). Narayan Sawant (4/17) and Prabhakar Shetye (2/20) were economical with their bowling figures for Farmagudi
In reply, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi were bundled out for 121/10 in 17.5 overs.
Om Fadte 21(21) and Venkat P. Kumar 16(15) were the only top run getters for the engineering college. It was Rayyan Shah (5/12) who wrecked through the GEC's batting line up.
The final will be played on March 18 at 9 am at the same venue.
