MARGAO: Guardian Angel SC defeated Navelim Sporting Club 2-0 to secure a spot in the semifinals of the 1st Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy 2025, organized by Batora United Club in association with Margao Sports Club, at DSYA Ground, Curtorim, on Saturday.
Both teams played well and shared possession evenly in the first half. Navelim's Presley Gomes provided a pass to Meliston, whose powerful shot struck the crossbar and went out of play. Before halftime, Guardian Angel's Regan Costa's header was well collected by Navelim goalkeeper Selvin Gomes. The score remained 0-0 at the break.
In the second half, Guardian Angel broke the deadlock with a brilliant header by Cyril Dias in the 40th minute. Navelim's Ronaldo Pereira had a chance soon after, but his shot from inside the box sailed over the crossbar. Guardian Angel extended their lead when Regan Costa scored again in the 50th minute.
Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel SC was named the Man of the Match by Raia Naik, PI, Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).
Earlier in the day, PI Sports Vice President Anthony Pango Sr. from GFA also attended the event.
