Goans Hockey will host 12th Hockey India Sub Junior Men’s Nationals at Peddem Synthetic Hockey Surface from May 4 to 15.
Boys born on or after1-1-2006 are eligible to participate in the tournament. The selection trials for Sub Junior Men will be held at the Peddem Synthetic Hockey Ground on March 7, at 3.30 pm.
Players, in full playing gear, along with their birth certificate and Aadhar card need to report to Alexander Remedios, NIS hockey coach, at the venue.
Badminton tourney underway at Paroda
Paroda Boys will organise 2nd All Goa men's doubles non-ranking badminton tournament at Combat, Paroda. The semifinals and final will be played on March 6. Prizes of Rs 9,999 and Rs 7,777 will be awarded to the winners and runners-up respectively. The semifinalists will be awarded Rs 2,222.
Women’s Football Festival on Women’s Day
Karuna Football Foundation will organise a Women’s Football Festival on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8, at the Rosary football ground at Navelim, 3 pm onwards. The theme for the festival is ‘Women have Right to Play’ and is to be dedicated to prayer by Women for Peace, keeping in mind the ongoing turmoil in the world. The festival is to be played on a seven-a-side basis with rolling substitutes with short duration games. An outstation team, South Indian Legends, will also participate.
Sports Utsav on March 6
Sports Utsav, an initiative by BNI Elegance for BNI Goa Region family, will host a one of a kind sports festival aimed at sports professionals at the State level on March 6 at SAG open sports complex, at 7 am. The tournament will be conducted in various disciplines -- cricket, chess, table tennis, badminton, carrom, throwball and slow cycling. Dancie Almeida, Secretary, said Sports Utsav will involve a wide range range of sports, played for celebrating sportsmanship. These may involve modern or traditional games, unusual rules and regulations but the focus of the events will be on entertainment, Almeida said.
