King’s School Mugali Sao Jose de Areal Under-17 Girls school went down fighting 0-3 to Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) school in their second league match of Group B of the Subroto Cup football tournament at G D Goenka University City, Gurugram yesterday.
Kings School, which had started with a 1-0 win over the Sikkim school on Tuesday, put up a gallant display against the former Subroto Cup winners with the Goan girls playing their hearts out and giving their best till the end.
For the Goa girls, it was their first ever international football match as they took on the might of the Bangladesh school BKSP, an autonomous, residential educational institution and the national sports institute of Bangladesh.
“It was The King’s School’s first ever international match experience and an enriching one at that! We are grateful to Subroto Cup International Football Tournament for such a wide platform for players of this age,” said Kings School Chairman Melvin Pereira who is in Delhi to support and cheer the girls team
“All in all, a historic milestone for us at TKS, Goa.Our girls played a great game and poured out their passion until the very end,” he added.
“It was great traveling together as mates and to the football match ground at G D Goenka University City, Gurugram) playing teams from neighbouring countries, and united by passion for football,” Pereira said.
Today the Kings School take on the Mumbai school in their concluding league match of Group B.
