In a stunning debut, Lazy Boys etched their name into Goa Handball League history by capturing the 5.0 championship title, organized by the Goa Handball Academy. Competing against five other dynamic teams, Lazy Boys showcased exceptional team spirit and unwavering determination, culminating in an unforgettable victory.
Their journey began in a fiercely competitive group, facing Flying Handballers and Zealous Lions. Lazy Boys kicked off their campaign with a dramatic comeback against Flying Handballers, securing a 17-16 win, with Gourav Lakhan Singh earning Man of the Match honors. A setback against Flying Handballers followed, but they rebounded strongly, dominating Zealous Lions 26-19, where Valerius Fernandes delivered a Man of the Match performance. Despite a final group stage loss to Zealous Lions, Lazy Boys secured a crucial second-place finish, advancing to the semi-finals.
In a dominant display, Lazy Boys dismantled Friends Handballers 25-13 in the semi-final, with Valerius Fernandes again shining as Player of the Match. This victory set the stage for a highly anticipated rematch against Flying Handballers in the grand finale.
The championship match was a nail-biting affair, with Lazy Boys ultimately prevailing 22-21, clinching the Goa Handball League trophy in their inaugural season. This historic victory marked a remarkable achievement for the debutant team.
Individual brilliance also highlighted Lazy Boys' success. Shreyas Morudkar was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Valerius Fernandes claimed the Highest Goal Scorer title, and Gourav Lakhan Singh, a former India player, was named Player of the Tournament, recognized for his exceptional leadership and pivotal role in Lazy Boys' championship run.
