London Trophy: Cuncolim Union down Snow's FA

Cuncolim Union scored a hard fought 3-1 win over Snow's FA, Raia to move into the quarter final of 14th London Trophy organised by Goa Velha Sports Club and played on Goa Velha Sports Club ground. In the 7th minute of play, Snow's FA Wilfred Gomes effort from close range was cleared of the line by veteran Franky Pereira of Cuncolim Union. In the18th minute of play, Danny Fernandes solo effort after dribbling past a couple of players shot tamely at goalkeeper Conny Fernandes under the Cuncolim bar. In the 32nd minute of play, Cuncolim Union's Clifton Fernandes shot over of a nice lay from Daulat Dessai. In the 38th minute of play, Daulat Dessai saw his effort saved by Snow's FA keeper Floyd Pereira. In the 40th minute of play Clifton Fernandes of Cuncolim Union shot over. In the 45th minute of play Snow's Eldon Colaco shot tamely into the waiting hands of the Cuncolim Union keeper Conny Fernandes. In the53rd minute of play, Bharat Gaonkar put Cuncolim Union ahead off a pass from Clifton Fernandes. In the 63rd minute of play, T. Dias shot home from close range to make it 2-0 in favour of Cuncolim Union. In the 65th minute of play, Jouston Barbosa reduced the margin for Snow's off a penalty kick that was awarded as Jude Cardozo was brought down by a Cuncolim Union defender. Sidroy Coutinho made it 3-1 in favour of Cuncolim Union with the last kick of the match.

Nuvem Veterans reach quarterfinals
Nuvem Veterans beat Quepem Veterans 5-3 via the tiebreaker and moved into the quarterfinal of the Candolim veterans football tournament organised by Candolim veterans at Dr Gustavo Monteiro Candolim ground on Saturday. Arthur Mascarenhas opened the scoreline for Quepem veterans in the 4th minute and as the match progressed in the 18th minute Wilson Fernandes equalised for Nuvem veterans. Later in the second half Francis Colaco made it 1-2 for Nuvem veterans. With just four minutes left for the final whistle, Silvan Luis levelled terms for Quepem veterans. In the tiebreaker, Nuvem veterans netted through Wilson Fernandes, Francis Colaco and Succor Colaco netted and for Quepem veterans only Peter scored. Man of the match was awarded to Eusebio Mascarenhas of Quepem veterans.

Para athletics: Ponda girl to represent State
Sakshi Kale, a blind girl from Ponda, will represent Goa in 20th National Para Athletics Championship to be held at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha from March 28-31. She is a student of GVM's SNJA Higher Secondary School, Farmagudi. She has been trained by coaches Snehal More and Devi of SAG. Vishram Naik - President of Goa Paralympic Association and all the members wished her goodluck for the National Championship.
