MARGAO
Manovikas English HS of Margao and A J D Almeida HS of Ponda emerged as South District champs in boys and girls group respectively in the U-17 inter school chess tournament of DSYA played at Fatorda indoor hall.

Manovikas emerged champs with 9.5 points while Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s HS of Mormugao secured second spot. In the girls section, A J D Almeida HS emerged winner with 10 points while Bhatikar Model HS secured the second place. Ankit Shetty, Sairaj Vernekar, Vicente Fernandez, Sagar Shetty and Sanket Shirodkar represented Manovikas School while Netra Savaikar, Srilaxmi, Vedanshi Sharma, Moumita Naskar, Nidhi Gaude represented Almeida School. All the winners and runners-up schools in both the sections are now qualified for the State final.

The King’s School of Sao Jose de Areal and Fatima Convent School of Margao emerged as South District champs in boys and girls group, respectively, in the U-14 inter school chess tournament of DSYA played at Fatorda indoor hall.

The King’s school emerged champs with 9.5 points while Deepvihar HS of Mormugao secured second spot. In the girls section, Fatima Convent emerged winner with 10 points while A J D Almeida HS got the second place. Edrick Vaz, Atharv Sawal, Shreyas Sajan and Cleo Fernandes represented King’s HS while Ashwini Mhatre, Danielle Xavier, Alysa Coutinho, Chaira Cabral and Shravani Naik represented Fatima Convent. All the winners and runners-up schools are now qualified for state championship.
