MARGAO: Mount Mary's Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, booked their place in the finals of the Boys U-19 Zone III Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Cuncolim football ground. Calvin Fernandes scored the only goal of the match in the first half, putting his team ahead before halftime.
The second half saw both teams pushing for goals, but despite their efforts, the score remained unchanged. In a dramatic turn of events, Mount Mary's was reduced to 10 men in the final minutes, yet they held firm to secure the win.
In the other semifinal, Fr. Agnelo High School, Verna, triumphed over St. Andrew’s, Vasco, in a tense penalty shootout following a closely contested match.
The final clash between Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School and Fr. Agnelo High Secondary School is set to take place on Monday, October 14, at 10:30 AM at the Cuncolim football ground.
