Goa head coach Charles Dias voiced hope of clinching the title of the 77th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24 in Arunachal Pradesh this month.
The team before departing for Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, invoked blessings from Santa Cruz Church and Mahalakshmi Temple.
Dias remarked that the odds are in favor of the Goa team to win the title. He expected the competition to be strong among the teams that aspire to reach the podium especially in light of the presence of a number of good players who are looking forward to giving their best in the competition.
“It’s an important match for us and our goal is to return to the top again. All our focus is currently on the match against Arunachal Pradesh and I hope that the team will be ready and all players are fully prepared,” said Dias.
However, the coach said Arunachal Pradesh pose a different challenge to his ranks.
“The recent victories in the friendly matches gave us a great morale boost to continue in the same way. We must work as one team to achieve victory.Facing Arunachal Pradesh will certainly not be easy as they are playing in front of their home crowd he said.
“Our players are ready to give a good show and I have confidence in their abilities to provide what is required and always achieve the best for Goa," Dias added.
