Peddem Bomm SC trounced Don Bosco Oratory of Fatorda 4-0 to book their place in the semifinals of the 50th Custodio Memorial inter-village football tournament played at Raia Panchayat ground, Raia on Sunday.
Peddem Bomm opened the scoring in the 10th minute through a 30-yard shot from Rohan Kambli that crashed into the DBO net. Later, Maruti Harijan doubled the lead when he beat the entire DBO defence and the helpless goalkeeper.
In the second session, Pratik Dhargalkar scored two more goals for Peddem Bomm SC to give a comfortable win to his team. Pratik was declared the Man of the Match.
Futsal: Piety reach next round
Piety defeated Hope 3-1 and moved into the next round of Floodlit Futsal league tournament organised by Fr Franky in association with Goa Priests at Bulls Arena, Verna Salcete on Sunday. Synder, Caitan and Christovan netted a goal each in the 6th, 8th and 22nd minute, while Fr Caitan pulled a goal back for Hope in the 26th minute.
Sawareshwar Mardol edge Shantadurga
Sawareshwar Mardol edged past Shantadurga of Tivrem Marcel 2-1 to move ahead in the 16th Ponda Taluka 8-a-side football tournament organized by United Sports Club of Mardol at Mardol ground on Sunday. Snehesh Naik and Tanves netted a goal each for Sawareshwar Mardol while Pranay Gaonkar was the scorer for Shantadurga.
Verenkar Memorial TT at Chandor from July 27
Chandor Club under the aegis of Goa Table Tennis Association will organize their 4th edition of Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament from July 27 to 31 at the Chandor Club Multipurpose Hall, Chandor. The tournament is sponsored by Sudin Verenkar in memory of his late parents. Events will be in the categories of Under 11, -13, -15 /, -17, -19 in girls/ boys, singles, men’s and women’s singles. Castlewaddi United win exhibition match
Castlewaddi United Vaddo Verna defeated Revora Youth 1-0 to lift the trophy for Goan Priests' exhibition match organised by Goan priests at Verna on Sunday. Clive scored the match-winner for Verna in the 8th minute. Fr Agnel of Goa Priests gave the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
