Rosary College, Govt College Sanquelim score huge wins

Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim and Govt. College Sanquelim delivered commanding performances in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament. PG Goa University, Goa College of Engineering (Farmagudi), VP's Mandre College, and St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa also recorded dominant wins to progress comfortably.

At Goa University ground, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim kicked off their campaign with an emphatic 8-0 win over Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering & Information Technology, Shiroda. Four goals were scored in each half as Rosary completely outclassed their opponents.

Ashwek Jadhav opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by strikes from Aerenn Figueiredo (20’), Flann Crasto (26’), and Ashnoy Gomes (32’) before the break. In the second half, Jeff Dias (38’), Rohan Yadav (39’), Garrison Fernandes (56’), and a second from Ashwek Jadhav (60’) completed the rout. In the second match, PG Goa University made light work of Goa College of Pharmacy with a comfortable 5-0 win. Adrian Franco scored early in the 3rd minute, while Abhay Naik doubled the lead in the 27th.

After the break, Ansif Mohammed netted twice (47’, 63’) and Chrisval Gonsalves added a goal in the 59th minute to seal the result.

Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi cruised to a 5-0 victory against St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim-Murmagao. Selwyn Fernandes bagged a brace early on (3’, 18’), while Alroy Rebello (22’) and Ruthik Gaonkar (24’) added two more before half-time. Vishal Bhamaikar completed the scoreline with a 61st-minute strike.

At Rosary Church ground, Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim delivered the most dominant performance of the tournament so far, hammering Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa, 12-0. They were up 10-0 by half-time.

Ramnath Parab was the star of the show with four goals (2’, 7’, 16’, 29’), while Nakul netted a hat-trick (18’, 23’, 27’). Heramb Sawant (20’), Omkar Gurav (25’) and Aayan Maldar (30’) also got on the scoresheet. Rohan Yammatral (37’) and Aftab Desai (40’) added two more in the second half.

VP's Mandre College of Commerce, Economics and Management, Mandre, Pernem defeated Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, 4-0. Sumit Chopdekar gave Mandre a first-half lead in the 18th minute. After the break, Swayam Mandrekar dominated proceedings with a second-half hat-trick (48’, 54’, 70’).

St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa came from behind to beat Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna 3-1. Muzammil Shaikh put PCCE ahead in the 5th minute, but St. Xavier’s responded in the second half with three quick goals”two by Keanan Bhabe (50’, 55’) and one from Walden Menezes (58’) to seal the win.
