Vidya Prabodhini College triumphed over VVM’s Shree Damodar College in a sudden-death tiebreaker, finishing 4-3 after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time on Day 3 of the Goa University's inter-collegiate women's football tournament, at Goa University ground.
Tanvi Khedekar opened the scoring for Vidya Prabodhini in the third minute, followed by an equalizer from Numma Subba for Shree Damodar in the 20th minute. In the tiebreaker, Khedekar, Ashreen Fernandes, Riya Folkar, and Rajlaxmi Arondekar scored for Vidya Prabodhini, while Tamanna Shaikh, Janice Cruz, and Riya Gomes converted for Shree Damodar.
In another match, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts from Navelim delivered an impressive performance, defeating Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, 7-0. The first half saw them lead 5-0, thanks to Swellen Fernandes, who netted the opening goal in the seventh minute, and Aniela Barretto, who scored four times within just 15 minutes. Swellen added two more goals in the second half to complete the rout.
Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College from Assagao secured a strong 3-0 victory against Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, with all goals scored by Bhumika Gawander in the first half (6th, 13th, and 18th minutes). The second half saw the Government College of Pernem tighten their defense, preventing any further scoring.
At Rosary College ground, Navelim, the first match featured Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, achieving a commendable 5-0 win over Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College. Velish Azavedo opened the scoring in the third minute, followed by goals from Sana Arilikatti, Siya Naik, Andrea Monteiro, and Kanuksha Rekdo.
Finally, Don Bosco College of Panjim edged out Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, with a final score of 3-1. The first half ended 1-1, with Rezella Cia Almeida scoring for Carmel and Blessica Rodrigues equalizing for Don Bosco. In the second half, Karen Estrocio scored twice to secure the victory for Don Bosco.
St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, capped the day with a dominant 7-0 win over Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce. The first half featured five goals, with contributions from Leadra Fernandes, Simran Narvekar, Valanky Desouza, Tanvi Parulekar, and Sujata Naik. They added two more goals in the second half from Pushpa Parab and Annvia Pereira, solidifying their impressive performance.
