Royla Fernandes has been appointed as a co-opted member of Goa Football Association. She served as sarpanch of Cana Benaulim Panchayat and is actively involved in Cana Benaulim Sporting Association's sports activities.
Royla is also the deputy chairperson of Women's football committee. "Developing women’s football is our priority as per the provisions laid out in AIFF's Vision 2047 roadmap. A lot needs to be done to see Goa reaching the desired standards,” said Royla.
She said the provisions under the long-term roadmap decided by the GFA under the leadership GFA president Dr Caitano Fernandes is also to ensure that the clubs s are functioning properly.
Rossman Cruz book finals spot
Rossman Cruz Nagoa beat Goa Velha SC 3-0 to secure a spot in the finals of the inter-village football tournament organised by St Sabastian UC Benaulim at Dando ground, Benaulim. Rossman Cruz led 2-0 at halftime.
Andru scored in the 12th and 26th minutes, giving his team a strong advantage. The second half saw Goa Velha SC attempting to narrow the gap, but Rossman Cruz defence remained impenetrable. Andru continued to shine, and completed his hat-trick in the 37th minute.
DBO Fatorda in Betalbatim final
Don Bosco Oratory of Fatorda defeated Fr Agnelo YSC of Paroda 6-5 via the tiebreaker to enter the final of the Festival Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club at Betalbatim Panchayat ground on Saturday.
Myron Fernandes gave the lead to DBO which was later cancelled out by Paroda through a self-goal by Alfred Noronha of DBO. In the second session, Lickson Rebello scored for Fr Agnelo YSC while Elroy Barreto equalised for DBO Fatorda. In the ensuing tiebreaker, DBO proved to be the better shooters.
