Dr Sandeep Martin Warlikar was felicitated by the Sports Authority of Goa Executive Director - V M Prabhu Desai in the presence of Director Coaching, Bruno Coutinho (Arjuna Awardee), Treasurer of SAG Ashraf Pandial and Project Officer Francisco Miranda on being the first and only coach and staff to have completed his PhD, Philosophical Doctorate Degree in sports coaching, (Department of Advanced Sports Training and Technology), Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai. SAG coaches and zone in-charges were also present on the occasion.
Dr Warlikar has also the distinction of being the only SAG coach to have completed his MSc Sports Coaching from Punjabi University, Patiala as a university topper (gold medallist). He has the distinction of being among only four Goans to have attended a course on Sports Administration from the International Olympic Committee at Delhi.
He has officiated as Joint Coordinator Coaching and is also the Zone 1 In-charge for the Coaching Section SAG. He has been deputed on various special assignments i.e. Observer for the 35th National Games at Kerala and is presently officiating as the Officer In-charge & Nodal Person of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Covid Care Centre and Disaster Management Stores (North Goa).
Dr Warlikar has guided over 500 basketballers that have represented Goa at various National Championships and produced 4 India campers, 1 senior national gold medalist and has several State championships under his belt of teams that he has mentored and coached. He himself has represented Goa at Nationals in different capacities and roles, player, captain, coach, contingent leader etc. Dr Warlikar has been a coach, sports administrator, sports promoter and organizer for 25 years.
Dr Warlikar has completed his NIS Diploma in Sports Coaching, WABC “ FIBA Level 1 qualified and two NIS Certificate Courses, thus having specialization in health and fitness.
