SAI Veterans secure semis spot

SAI Veterans blanked Roasry Parish Darvolim Veterans 3-0 to book their place in the semifinals of the Batora United Veterans football tournament played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Friday.

SAI Veterans netted the first goal of the match through Bobby in the 30th minute. In the second half, Bobby and Benedict netted a goal each in the 60th and 85th minutes respectively for SAI Veterans to make it 3-0.

Stranger Boys shoot into last-four
Stranger Boys got the better of Israel Boys 5-3 via the tiebreaker and moved into the semifinals of the St Francis Xavier Sports Club football tournament at Capxem ground, on Friday.

Stranger Boys missed chances to score through Marcus and Schubert in the 8th and 12th minutes respectively. For Israel Boys, Steven and Myron missed chances to score in the 46th and 50th minutes respectively. In the tiebreaker, Stranger Boys proved to be the better shooters.

St Joseph Vaz Cup from Nov 20
The John Paul II Foundation for Sports Goa will organise the 6th edition of the St Joseph Vaz Cup football tournament, from 2 pm, at the Rosary Church Ground, Navelim on November 20.

For the first time, the format is changed to seven-a-side matches to be played in three categories -- for priests, Major Seminarians and Minor Seminarians. The programme is organised in collaboration with the Rosary Church, Navelim.

Most of the religious congregations in Goa along with the Diocesans will be participating in the football fellowship events that are planned for the day. The event is being coordinated by Fr Valentino (Diocesan) and Adv Fr Franky (Capuchin) and the foundation members.
