Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club secured a 2-1 win over Canacona Sports & Cultural Club to advance to the quarterfinals of the 49th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament, held at Chandor.
Both teams showcased excellent soccer skills throughout the match, with several missed opportunities early on. Canacona opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a powerful shot from Yamnum Pirjar, who capitalised on a long pass. However, Fr Agnelo quickly equalised when Ashwan Fernandes dribbled past the Canacona defence and scored, leaving their goalkeeper stunned. The teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, both sides pushed hard for the lead. Canacona missed several one-on-one chances that could have given them an advantage. Fr Agnelo's defence held firm against Canacona's attacks. In the 54th minute, Fr Agnelo executed a swift series of passes that allowed Savio Vales to score the decisive goal, securing the win.
Omkar Gaonkar of Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
