A five-goal blitz by Selton Fernandes helped Pax of Nagoa Sports Club wallop Raia Sporting Club 7-0 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Nagoa ground on Friday.
Pax of Nagoa led 4-0 at half time. In the 3rd minute, Selton broke the deadlock with a snap shot. Jayesh Velip doubled the lead in the 9th minute before Selton struck a second time in the 34th minute. In the 38th minute, Jayesh also scored his brace. In the second session, Selton registered his hat-trick in the 56th minute and added another in 64th minute. Two minutes later, Selton rounded off the tally.
Margao SC blank SC Davorlim 2-0
Margao Sports Club blanked Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-0 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Rosary ground, Navelim on Friday. Olvito Dias punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 43rd minute for the first goal. Crossing over, Margao continued in the same vein and in the 52nd minute, Mario Dias beat the rival goalkeeper with a rasping drive, 2-0.
Deao SC hammer Davorlim SC 6-1
A triple strike by Piason Dias enabled Deao Sports Club to crush Davorlim Sports Club 6-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Church Ground, Chandor.
Deao had their first breakthrough in the 10th minute through the boots of Paison Dias. Joshua Dias increased the tally in the 28th minute. Airies Fernandes made it 3-0 in injury time before the break. Crossing over, Davorlim pulled one back through Deepak Chinchini in the 52nd minute. Ivo Costa added his name to the scorers' list in the 54th minute. Piason then struck twice in the 79th and 80th minutes to complete his hat-trick.
St Sebastian down Ambelim SC 3-1
St Sebastian Union Club made short work of Ambelim Sports Club 3-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Carmona ground on Friday. Keegan Fernandes, Chrisson Fernandes and Aloysius Fernandes were the goal-getters for the winners while Myron Correia pulled one back for Ambelim.
Gonsalves appointed Goa coach for Santosh Trophy
Norbert Gonsalves has been appointed coach of the Goa team for the 76th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy Championship 2022-23 scheduled to be held from December 28 to January 5, at Kokrajhar, Assam. A coaching cum selection camp will be held from December 17 to 24 at Bambolim Stadium from 3 pm to 5.30 pm.
