FC Goa and Sesa Football Academy played a drab draw in the CAM Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium on Thursday.
Sesa coach Charles made just one change in his line-up as he introduced Omkar Shetgaonkar while FC Goa coach Deggie Cardozo made changes in the team which won against Sporting Clube de Goa as Mevan Dias and Aditya Salgaonkar replaced Delton and Muhammed Nemil.
There was hardly any action throughout the game. However, Sesa keeper Roanal Gaonkar had to make the first save early in the game when he denied FC Goa’s Phrangki from close. Later, FC Goa missed another chance when Vasim Inamdar failed to direct his header on target. The teams kept more possession and hardly created goal-scoring chances in the first session.
In the second half, having made two substitutions, Sesa FA were the more attacking side. Clencio Pinto’s introduction in the team made an impact as he had a chance to score but missed a header from close. At the other end, FC Goa had a penalty claim when Vasim’s cross from the right looked to have brushed Sesa FA defender’s arm. However, the referee showed no interest in the appeal.
Sesa FC should have taken the lead when Clencio controlled the ball in the box and got past his marker, only to see his brilliantly taken left-footed shot narrowly miss the mark. At the other end, Phrangki had an attempt on the Sesa FA goal but the shot was cleanly dealt with by the rival custodian.
Sesa FA captain Domnic Soares was named the Player of the match and the award was presented by GFA president Dr Caetano Fernandes.
Meanwhile, in a GFA Third Division League Bardez Zone match at Sirsaim ground, FC Goa and Sesa FA played out a 1-1 draw. Shawn Fernandes put FC Goa ahead in the 10th minute while Sesa FA restored parity through Vicky Diwale in the 56th minute. At Quitula ground, Augustias SC registered a solitary goal win over Sirsaim Sports & Welfare Centre. Elroy Nazareth scored the only goal of the game in the 4th minute.
