Goa Forest Development Corporation Chairperson and Poriem MLA Deviya Rane launched the work to repair the Valpoi-Thane road at Koparde at a cost of Rs 67 lakh.
The stretch of road had deteriorated during the monsoon and Rane thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and PWD Nilesh Cabral for getting the project approved.
Addressing a gathering, Rane informed that the drainage system would be improved by the roadside and the project would be completed within three months.
Sarpanch Somnath Kale, Deputy Sarpanch Radhika Sawant, Panch Sayaji Sawant, PWD Assistant Engineer Devendra Velingkar, Junior Engineer Chandan Naik and others participated in the programme.
Speaking further, Rane admitted that the proposal for the repair work had been pending for a long time and was finally approved after continuous feedback.
“This road is very important for many villages in the panchayats of Thane and Mauxi,” said Rane.
