Sporting Clube steamroll New Friends Club

MARGAO

Sporting Clube de Goa ran riot over New Friends Club, Dantewada 10-0 in the AIFF Third Division League at Lake City Univeristy ground, on Monday.

Ivon Costa smashed in a hat-trick for the winners while Lloyd Cardozo showcased his goal-scoring prowess by not only converting a penalty in the 47th minute but also setting the tone with an early goal in the sixth minute. The duo's combination play and striking instincts were pivotal in Sporting Clube's relentless attacking onslaught.

The match began with an early chance for Sporting Clube in the very first minute, as Samuel Costa narrowly missed converting a sitter after a precise pass from Lloyd Cardozo.

However, it didn't take long for Sporting Clube to break the deadlock. In the sixth minute, Samuel Costa initiated a brilliant sequence, passing to Ivan Costa who then set up Lloyd Cardozo to open the scoring with finesse.

The action-packed first half saw Sporting Clube earn a penalty in the 10th minute, courtesy of Lloyd Cardozo's shot being handled by New Friends' defender Karan Kumar. Despite the initial setback, the opponent's keeper, Naveen, heroically saved Adil Khan's tame penalty effort. Adil Khan had another chance in the 13th minute, but he failed to tap home from close and meekly tapped into the waiting hands of Naveen in goal.

Sporting Clube continued to dominate, extending their lead in the 27th minute as Joyson Gauncar capitalised on Lloyd Cardozo's pass. The third goal came in the 35th minute when Joel Colaco delivered a precise cross, allowing Marcus Mascarenhas to head home confidently. Just before the first-half whistle, Joyson Coutinho sent in a cross from the right wing, which was headed home by Ivan Costa making it 4-0.

The second half witnessed no respite for New Friends Club, as Sporting Clube maintained their attacking prowess. In the 47th minute, Joyson Coutinho was brought down in the penalty area, leading to a penalty that Lloyd Cardozo converted with precision.

Sporting Clube continued their goal-scoring spree in the 54th minute when Darjee Biswa's accurate cross found Joel Colaco, adding to the misery of New Friends Club.

The match reached a crescendo with Sporting Clube's fluid and beautiful play in the 79th minute. A brilliant combination between Ivan Costa, Samuel Costa, and Biswa Darjee resulted in a cross converted by Joyson Gauncar. A Biswa Darjee cross in the 79th minute found Ivan Costa, who scored his second goal, followed by Lloyd Mascarenhas contributing to the scoreline after receiving a pass from Samuel Costa.

The icing on the cake came in the final minutes as a long ball from Samuel Costa to Chandan Gawas, who then passed to Ivan Costa, completed his hat-trick, sealing the emphatic 10-0 victory for Sporting Clube de Goa.
