MARGAO: St. Anthony's Colva edged past Arlem Y.A Raia 6-5 in a thrilling tie-breaker to advance in the All Goa Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim in memory of Late Rev. Fr. Joe Gomes. The match was held at Seraulim Panchayat Ground.
Both teams finished regulation time locked at 1-1, with Colva opening the scoring through Kabir Khan before Allen Fernandes equalised for Arlem. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Colva held their nerve, with successful penalties from Kabir Khan, Riston Gomes, Samson Gomes, Steward Faleiro, and Adiel Fernandes. Arlem converted through Santiro Pango, Achilles Fernandes, Silvano Oliveira, Kevin Mendes, and Erickson Souza, but fell short by one goal.
Colva’s composure in the shootout proved decisive, earning them a hard-fought victory in a tense and evenly matched encounter.
