MARGAO: Seiko cruised into the quarterfinals of the 4th Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy with a commanding 59-run victory over Sportsweek at the Konkan Railway ground on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Seiko batted first and posted a competitive 202 for 6, with Prathamesh Gawas top-scoring with 53, supported by Prathamesh Salunke (43) and Mohit Yadav (29). Off-spinner Anish Mhaddolkar was the pick of the bowlers for Sportsweek, claiming 3 for 22.
In reply, Sportsweek struggled against a disciplined Seiko bowling attack and were bowled out for 143 in 18.2 overs. Deepak Kumar’s 33 was the lone resistance, while Krishnan Unni (3 for 23) and Yogesh Kavthankar (2 for 29) impressed with the ball.
Prathamesh Gawas’ all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
