MARGAO: A scintillating hat-trick from Sunny Fernandes powered St. Anthony Assolda into the quarterfinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy, as they convincingly defeated Dicarpali Sports Club 5-1 at the Raia Panchayat ground on Friday.
Fernandes was the undisputed star of the match, finding the net in the 9th, 38th, and 42nd minutes to dismantle the Dicarpali defense. Akram Yadwad (19th minute) and Velroy Cardozo (44th minute) further compounded Dicarpali's woes with a goal apiece.
Dicarpali SC managed a solitary reply through Ajay Raj in the 16th minute, but it proved to be a mere consolation.
For his outstanding performance, Sunny Fernandes of St. Anthony Assolda was deservedly named the Man of the Match, receiving the award from Jerome Colaco, President of AYA (organizers of the Arlem Rolling Trophy).
