Tanisha Crasto interacts with badminton players, motivates them to follow disciplined routine

PANAJI
Goa and India badminton player Tanisha Crasto interacted with badminton trainees at Indoor stadium, Campal, Panaji during a motivational session organised by Goa Badminton Association.

The India international, who attended a felicitation function at the National Youth Parliament, gave a brief motivational talk to the young players, where she stressed the importance of following a disciplined routine.

“For an athlete, it is important to do everything right and to follow a disciplined life. Our sessions are for a duration of around 6 to 7 hours a day, but for me, my training happens for 24 hours a day,” the reigning junior national champion said.

“You have to get up at the right time, eat at the right time, work out and train at the right time and sleep at the right time. To reach the top level, one has to be in the right frame physically and mentally throughout the day. The cliché, “Eat, Sleep, Badminton, Repeat” is apt to describe our daily life at the academy,” stated Tanisha, who trains at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.

“When I started out playing in the domestic India circuit, I won medals in singles as well as doubles. But I would love playing doubles more and felt that this was the event where I would find my calling. I started winning many medals in doubles events and won multiple national titles in this category, as well as international ones. As a player, I realised that doubles events were more to my liking and I pursued that. As an athlete, it is important to assess your strengths and follow your passions,” added the teenage star, who won a gold medal along with a silver in the recently concluded Infosys International Open at Bengaluru.

“Every player aspires to win a medal at the Olympics or World Championships and I similarly aim to win those and be the best in the world. As players, you all similarly have that talent in you, believe you can, work hard, and you are on your way there,” said Tanisha during her interaction with the budding young trainees.

Sandeep Heble, Secretary, Goa Badminton Association, Roy Ataide, SAG coach, and Gosh Mohammad Nadaf, GBA coach attended the event. Earlier, Tanisha was felicitated at the hands of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant during the National Youth Parliament at SPM Stadium, Taleigao.
