With FC Goa taking on Kerala Blasters in Kochi on Sunday, many fans of the Gaurs are making a trip to the southern State to watch the clash at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
"I’m really excited to travel with the Gaur Army to Kochi. It was my dream to visit the home of Manjapada," said Shubham Faldessai from Quepem. "It’s going to be a Uzzo experience to silence the fans in yellow as the Gaurs will defeat Kerala on their home ground. I wish to see Alvaro Vazquez and Brandon Fernandes score and get the important three points."
Another fan, Vilas Gokul from Fatorda, is also travelling to Kerala. "I’m visiting Kochi to support FC Goa. I'm super excited to back the Gaurs in away games, a culture which the Gaur Army started first for Goans. As the Gaurs clash at Kochi, I expect a 3-0 scoreline."
John Fernandes is an FC Goa fan living in Kerala and the big game cannot come quickly enough for him. “This game means everything to us,” he said. “This is a long-standing rivalry that has been there for years but I have no doubt that it will be played out in the true spirit of sportsmanship.”
Fernandes said that while Sunday’s match is a football game, the true importance of it lies much deeper. “Being born here and being brought up here means there is even more intensity for this game for a lot of us,” he said.
Angelee is hoping for an FC Goa victory against the Blasters. “Goan fans are getting behind their team for this game. It will be a treat to watch," the Margao-based student said.
Edu Fernandes said there is so much passion from supporters when FC Goa and Kerala Blasters play and it often gets emotional. "There are always high hopes from the players and a lot of anger comes out if they don’t perform as expected," he said.
