GIDC chief sends stern warning to industry, says will not tolerate hire and fire of Goans

MARGAO
Goa Industrial Development Corporation Chairman, MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday said the government is ready to provide the infrastructure facilities to the industries at the industrial estate, but made it amply clear that the government would not tolerate the hire and fire of Goan youth at industrial units.

He was categorical in saying that industries need to accommodate the unemployed youth and impart them with skills and training.

Speaking to the media at the job fair organised by the Reginaldo Trust in collaboration with Creative HR Solutions to provide employment avenues for the youth at the premises of St Alex Church Hall at Curtorim on Saturday, Reginaldo said he is here to do serious business. “As chairman of Goa IDC, I am here to do serious business. We are working strongly to provide the infrastructure at the industrial estates. I am here not to waste time, but am ready to go home. The industries need to accommodate Goan youth in the industries,” he added.

Saying the policy of yesteryears of hire and fire of Goan youth by the industry will not be tolerated any longer, Reginaldo said, “I want to send a clear message to the industries. We are working to provide a better environment to the industry as compared to other states. But, we want the industries to accommodate our youth. Unlike in the past, there’s less influx of outsiders in the State since employment avenues are now being created in their native states. Hence, the industry should take our youth by imparting them training and skills,” he added.

HR representatives of 30 corporates from various fields including IT, Pharmaceutical, Hospital, Manufacturing and Hotels, etc will interview the prospective candidates. Already 300+ candidates have registered online.

Expressing satisfaction over the response from the youth, Reginaldo said he would personally do a follow to the job fair to ensure that the youth gain employment.
