United Club Nerul beat hosts Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club 3-0 to move into the next round of the 22nd Vagator Soccer 2022 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club ground, Ozran, on Wednesday.
Nerul took the lead in the very first minute as Anson D'souza scored from a loose ball let by the Vagator defenders. Vagator failed to equalise in the 13th minute where a shot from Saiesh Govekar was denied by the Nerul keeper and from a corner kick taken by Nyron Dias in the 23rd minute, a header from Dadaphir Adur just missed the mark by a whisker.
In the 25th minute, Anson netted the second goal for Nerul. After crossing ends, Vagator kept trying to find gaps in the Nerul defence while in the 58th Nyron Dias laid a cross on the platter from the right flank for Nathan D'silva but he failed to put it in. In the 70th minute, Vagator conceded an own goal by Saiesh Govekar.
The Man of the match prize was awarded to Anson D'souza of United Club Nerul.
Agxem SC down Pidagal Youth 2-0
Agxem SC made short work of Pidagal Youth 2-0 and moved into the next round of the 4th football tournament organised by Cumborda Sports Club at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
After a goalless first half, Agxem succeeded when Savio struck from the right flank in the 40th minute. Agxem doubled their lead in the 50th min through Allen, 2-0. Man of match trophy was awarded to Prakash Joshi of Pidagal Youth.
Sinquerim SC dump hosts Ponda Footballers
Sinquerim SC entered the finals of 32nd All Goa St Anne’s Festival Inter Village Soccer Tournament organised by Ponda Footballers and Dr Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC in association with SAG at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti Ponda on Wednesday.
Sinquerim beat hosts Ponda Footballers 4-0. Chandan Govekar scored two while Abdul Khan and Pratik Tirodkar added one each. In the 5th minute, Chandan got a loose ball and placed it under a diving keeper, 1-0. In 13th minute, a defender handled the ball in the box and a penalty was awarded. Abdul Khan scored from the spot, 2-0.
Ponda again conceded a penalty and Chandan made it 3-0. In the second half, Ponda conceded a third penalty. Pratik stepped up to convert from the spot. Chandan Govekar was awared as the Man of the match.
