The practice of fielding outstation players has come in for criticism from a section of hockey officials and coaches associated with the game in the state.
Former state coach Alex Remedios while wishing the team all the best questioned as to why the names of the Goans Hockey players was not public ahead of the tournament
“Wonder why there was no press release of the Goa team ahead of the national Championship. Is it not an honour to play for the State! Or they don't want the public to know how many outstation players are fielded in the d team,” the Mapusa based former tactician said.
“Are they not aware that on Match Day the players' names will be in the public domain,” he added.
Taking a dig at Goans Hockey he decried the functioning of Goans Hockey.
“Hockey India is run totally in a professional and transparent way, that is why they are getting results at all levels. When will Goans Hockey learn?”
