Majorda-based former national referee Adley Costa has become the first Goan to be named referees' coach by the All India Football Federation director of referees J Shankar. 

Costa earned the national referee's badge in 2004. He officiated in the I-League, Federation Cup, Senior National Football Championship, Goa Professional League and other leagues in the recent past. 

After ending active refereeing, he served as the first head of referees for Goa Football Association in 2014 and then also served as a development officer with Australian Sports Outreach Programme. He is also a match commissioner cum referee assessor. 

Franky Fernandes, head of the GFA referees and former FIFA assistant referee, and Anthony Pango, GFA vice-president (South) congratulated Adley.
