Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda beat Guirdolim Club 4-3 via tiebreaker to enter the final of Fatima Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Dicarpale SC at Dicarpale ground on Friday.
Striker Hanslum Furtado was the star of the match for Fatorda with his dribbling and shooting power and assists to his teammates. Guidolim's Mark Fernandes did well for his team.
Hanslum should have netted in the second minute itself but his shot hit the Guirdolim Club crossbar and went out of play. Hanslum then tried two long-rangers in the 4th and 8th minutes but they flew over the Guirdolim crossbar. Mark of Guirdolim could have scored but his long-ranger failed to find the Fatorda net in the tenth minute.
In the tiebreaker, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda netted through Maxwell, Ganslum and Charles while for Guirdolim Club, Mario Joaquim and Selvraj scored.
Friends Circle sneak into quarterfinals
Friends Circle Curtorim prevailed over Seraulim Veterans 7-6 via tiebreaker and moved into quaterfinals of the St Michael Veterans Cup football tournament organised by St Michael Boys at Orlim Church ground on Friday.
Joy opened the account in the 10th minute for Seraulim while Sandeep made it 2-0 for them before going for the lemon break. Curtorim came back strongly in the second half with Richard scoring a brace to make it 2-2, netting in the 49th and 51st minutes. In the tiebreaker, Friends Circle Curtorim proved themselves to be the better shooters.
Sairaj wins gold, silver at Fire Services Sports
Sairaj Ramchandra Naik, a firefighter at Directorate of Fire and Emergency Service, Mapusa Fire Force Station, won a gold medal in 100 metres and silver in long jump at All India Fire Services Sports held in Delhi recently, in general category. He was trained by coach Shashi Kumar at RCC Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa.
