The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has announced special cash rewards for the Goa U-19 team and support staff following their commanding innings victory over Assam in the Cooch Behar Elite Cricket Tournament (U-19).

GCA President Mahesh Dessai, along with the Managing Committee, has declared a cash prize of ₹1 lakh for Yash Kasvankar for his outstanding knock of 243 runs in the opening game against Chhattisgarh, which laid the platform for Goa’s first innings victory of the season and set the tone for their strong campaign.

In recognition of the team’s all-round performances across both matches, each Goa player will receive ₹50,000, while the support staff will be awarded ₹25,000 each for their crucial role in preparing and guiding the side.

Against Assam, Goa bowled out the opposition for 75 in 35 overs in the first innings and, after enforcing the follow-on, dismissed them again for just 86 in 41.2 overs to seal an innings victory in just two and a half days. With this emphatic result – their second consecutive innings win after beating Chhattisgarh – Goa collected 7 points (6 for the win and 1 bonus point) and now stand second in Elite Group D with 14 points from two matches, level with Bengal on points.

The latest victory was built on a ruthless bowling display. Dishank Misquin scored a valuable 88 in Goa’s only innings against Assam. Mihir Kudalkar returned magical figures of 3 for 0 in 3.2 overs in the first innings and 4 for 9 in the second. Samarth Rane, Chigurupati Venkata, Shiven Borkar and Yash Kasvankar chipped in with crucial strikes across both innings to complete a clinical team performance.

“This victory is a proud moment for Goa cricket. The boys have shown character, discipline and determination across all departments. Yash’s superb 243 in the opening match will be remembered for a long time, but equally, the bowling unit and support staff have been outstanding right through. These rewards are a small token of appreciation for their hard work and commitment,” GCA President and former Ranji player Mahesh Dessai said while making the announcement.

Goa had earlier defeated Chhattisgarh by an innings and 13 runs in their opening match, and have now followed it up with another innings win over Assam, underlining their superb form and growing confidence in the tournament. The GCA President expressed hope that the team would continue this momentum in their next Cooch Behar fixture against Uttar Pradesh from December 1 to 4 at Sanguem Ground.
