A day after cracking the Baina dacoity case, Goa Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the high-profile St Cruz break-in with the arrest of one Lokesh Suthar (33), a suspected serial house burglar.

Police sources said that Suthar allegedly involved in the November 14 burglary at Ubo Dando, St Cruz, in which cash and gold worth Rs 25 lakh were stolen was tracked down in Karnataka in a joint operation by Old Goa Police and the Crime Branch. He was brought to Goa on transit remand and arrested.

Suthar is wanted in at least 25 robbery cases across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. He was produced before JMFC Merces and remanded to 10 days police custody.

The St Cruz case had shocked residents after an unknown burglar entered a locked apartment in broad daylight and decamped with valuables in under 30 minutes on the afternoon of November 14. The intruder also targeted adjacent flat on the same day.

Police had been tight-lipped about the case. Officials are now probing whether Suthar was operating alone or is part of inter-state network.
