MARGAO: Guardian Angel SC of Curchorem have booked their place in the finals of the 31st Mandopa Cup 2026, organised by Mandopa Sporting Club, after edging out Parish Youth Nuvem 5-4 in a tense semifinal tiebreaker at Mandopa Ground on Friday.
Nuvem had the first opportunity to take the lead when Albino Pereira’s powerful shot was superbly saved by Guardian Angel goalkeeper Milroy Clement. In the dying minutes of regular time, Fhezer Gomes took control of the ball, raced past the defence, and struck from inside the box, but the effort cannoned off the side post and was cleared by Nuvem’s defence. Referee Mario Rebello then blew the final whistle, sending the match into a tiebreaker.
In the shootout, Valeriano Hilario, Milroy Clement, Fhezer Gomes, Richard Fernandes, and Daniel D’Costa scored for Guardian Angel, while Leroy Colaco, Shenoy Colaco, Royston Mascarenhas, and Frazer Miranda found the net for Parish Youth Nuvem, giving Guardian Angel a 5-4 victory.
Milroy Clement was named Player of the Match by Lucio Gomes for his heroics between the posts.
The final will take place on February 22 where Guardian Angel SC will face United Club of Verna.
