The Multi-State Masters Table Tennis Team Championship got off to a vibrant start on Saturday at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, Panaji.
The action began with Round One of the league matches, which saw spirited performances from veteran players representing four states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and hosts Goa. Leading the points table at the end of the opening day are Toss Academy and Spinmoon 5 from Maharashtra with 5 points each, followed by Accolades from Karnataka and MP Lions from Madhya Pradesh with 3 points each. The two-day championship, featuring top players in the 39+, 49+, and 59+ age categories, promises intense competition and camaraderie among veterans.
The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest Rohit Monserrate, Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), in the presence of Guest of Honour Dr. Geeta Nagvenkar, Executive Director of the Sports Authority of Goa. Special Guests included Yogish Dempo, Director of Dempo Properties; Nirmal, Manager of the State Bank of India; and Vishnu Kolvalkar, former Secretary of the Goa Table Tennis Association. The organizing team from Panjim Morning Stars Sports Club, including Niraj Kannure, Dinesh Sinari, Chaitanya Tarcar, Avdhut Kuvelkar and others, welcomed the dignitaries and participants with great enthusiasm, marking the club’s first foray into hosting a multi-state event.
