Babush’s inexplicable back seat

Whenever development works are taken up in his political turf of Panaji and Taleigao, Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, is usually a hands-on, man on a mission. Not so with the ‘Smart City’ projects, the post-monsoon phase of execution of which have now begun.

Whether in power or otherwise (not that he has the habit of staying out of power and sitting in the Opposition for too long), Babush is always here, there and everywhere whenever any ‘development’ work is carried out. 

Strangely, it’s not the case with the ‘Smart City’ projects, although he is very much ensconced in the BoD of the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).

Instead, it’s his mayor-son Rohit, who is also on the IPSCDL BoD, who has taken the driver’s seat. Monserrate Junior was right in the forefront of the mini consultation of sorts he organised between a group of residents of Ribandar and officials of IPSCDL, including the expert spin doctor, Sanjit Rodrigues, who is currently in-charge as the CEO and managing director of IPSCDL.

What’s cooking with the Monserrates? Time will tell.

Ribandar’s school going kids’ woes ignored

The cries of the residents of Ribandar protesting against the hardships they expect to face amidst the restarting of the excavation of roads for the ‘smart city’ work have apparently fallen on deaf ears.
