B'luru company launches India's first organic Vodka

Saying that Goa is the easiest state in India to do alcohol business, Bangalore based Ssura Spirits launched premium brand of organic vodka called Helsinki and Greenday in Goa. The company also claimed that this is the first time organic vodka is being launched in India.
Ssura Spirits is actually an importer of alcoholic beverages like vodka, wine and whiskey. Even in this case, the company is importing Helsinki and Greenday brands of vodka from a company called Alef Group in Ukraine.
Amarender Singh, director, Ssura Spirits, said, “We make vodka from organically grown wheat. We ensure that no fertilizers are used in cultivation of wheat. Doing this, alcohol tends to be softer and better. Besides, we use spring water, which is better for vodka too.”
Another director of Ssura Spirits, Ramprakash Patwardhan, said, “Goa is the easiest state to do alcohol business in India. The government departments are also very co-operative. We are launching these two brands of vodka in Goa. After this, we will launch them in Puducherry, Kolkatta, Karnataka and then in Delhi.”
Helsinki vodka is priced at Rs 2,900 for a 750 ml bottle in Goa, which means that it will be competing with brands like Grey Goose. Greenday, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 1,800 for a 750 ml bottle, which puts it in the category of Absolute vodka.
Ssura Spirits also claimed that Helsinki and Greenday are made with special eco-technologies, which will keep hang-over to the minimum. The company has roped in Liquid Gold in Goa to distribute these two brands of vodka in the state.
