The all new Toyota Camry Hybrid has set Toyota’s cash registers ringing ever since its launch in India in the month of April 2015. As per the information available from the company, it sold 762 units of new Camry Hybrid in India since its launch in April 2015 till November 2015. Compared to last year, Camry Hybrid range of cars posted 68% growth in sales in the year 2015.
The new Camry Hybrid launched this year combines a newly developed hybrid exclusive 2.5L beltless petrol engine with an electric motor. Besides, the new Camry Hybrid has features, which would make for comfortable experience like collapsible headrest for front passenger seat, arm rests with wood finish, air-conditioning with nano technology, which purifies the air inside.
The key difference between Camry Hybrid and other electric motor driven cars is in the case of Camry, there is no need to charge the battery. The electric motor acts as a generator and converts the kinetic energy to electric energy in a process called regenerative braking when the vehicle decelerates or at the time of braking. This energy is stored in Camry Hybrid’s battery pack for later use when needed to power the vehicle.
At Rs 31.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi-price), Camry Hybrid is Toyota’s premium offering to the growing niche of those customers in India, who want a premium, environment-friendly car.
Camry Hybrid is available to customers in Goa too upon placing an order at the company’s dealership. Even Government of India has recognised the positive impact hybrid technology can have on environment by offering a markdown of Rs 70,000 on Camry Hybrid’s price. Camry Hybrid is the first car to qualify for this incentive.
