Credai lambasts govt over STP installations

Panaji

Real estate body CREDAI's Goa division Friday voiced serious displeasure over the Goa State Pollution Control Board's (GSPCB) move to impose on builders the responsibility of installing and maintaining STP for five years.

According to a press release issued, an evidently livid CREDAI said that promises made by the government to provide infrastructure for the mandated sewerage systems have not been adhered to even as it has been consistently hiking the infrastructure tax.

"The Builders are burdened with paying high Infrastructure Tax paid to the Town & Country Planning Department (TCP) at the time of issuing approval to the Project which defines/includes the provision/ maintenance of sewerage system to the developer of the Project for the construction. The promises made by the Government on providing infrastructure has not been adhered & fulfilled and yet the Infrastructure Tax has been consistently increased by the government still with an assurance that Infrastructure will be provided by the government," the release said.

"We would like to bring to the kind notice to the GSPCB that the builder transfers the operation and maintenance of the residential complexes once the project is completed to the Society along with the corpus funds. The maintenance is carried out by the builders till the formation of the legal entity," the release added.

CREDAI further insisted to the govt in the press release to provide infrastructure after collecting taxes from the builder and also to formulate a prospective housing policy.
