Mohan Meakin launched its Doctor’s Reserve No. 1 V.S.O.P. Grape Brandy in a new packaging in Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Amar Bajaj, son of founding owner, Mohan Brothers, said, “We are targeting youth in Goa with new concepts like brandy shots. Brandy has long served as a drink during rains on health grounds. But, now it can emerge as an all-season drink”.
Mohan Meakin is also known for its iconic rum ‘Old Monk’. Bajaj even informed that the company has changed the blend of the Doctor’s Reserve brandy to make it smoother and nicer.
V.K. Bakshi, chief chemist, Mohan Meakin, said, “We mature grape spirit for 7-8 years now. Due to which, our brandy gets a better taste”.
Doctor’s Reserve No. 1 V.S.O.P. Grape Brandy was launched in 1972. It retained the same packaging for all these years. The company has now changed the packaging to improve its appeal to customers.
Bajaj said that they have a target to sell 10,000 cases in FY 2016-17, followed by that of 20,000 cases next fiscal.
In Goa, a 750 ml bottle of Doctor’s Reserve No. 1 V.S.O.P. Grape Brandy is priced at Rs 300 at liquor shops. By December this year, the company will also launch a new range of alcoholic drinks called Reserve No. 1, under which it will launch whiskey, vodka, gin and brandy.
