PANAJI: Greenlawn Primary School, Neura, celebrated 50 years of service in primary education. The journey began in 1976 when veteran educator Madam Aurea Alvares e Noronha started classes on the verandah of her maternal home. The school received recognition from the Directorate of Education in 1977. In the early years, branches opened in Goa Velha, St Cruz, Azossim and Batim. Today, the institution functions from its campus at Neura with a playground, continuing its focus on holistic learning.
Lion Dr Kirti J. Naik attended the Golden Jubilee as chief guest. The vision of the foundress was strengthened by her husband, Lion John Noronha, especially in co-curricular activities, with support from staff. As part of the jubilee year, the Annual Sports Fiesta was held on January 31. Aurea Noronha and her team were felicitated. Alumni and parents credited the school for building confidence and values.
