The Verna Sports Club is focused on providing a platform forthe boys of Verna and the areas around to improve their skills in football. Thefootball team is presently in the second division. The football team has been astarting point for several players who have gone on to play in professionalteams like Dempo sports club and Churchill Brothers as well as the nationalteam.
We have organised tournaments to generate funds. We have toalso thank MLA Mickky Pacheco for regularly helping us with funds. We spend Rs.5 lacs every year on our senior and under 14 team. We don’t have any othersponsors. We hope this will continue. Our efforts to improve football have beensuccessful with players like Joaquim Abranches playing now for Dempo and LennyFernandes playing for Churchill Brothers. We will continue with our efforts topromote and improve the standard of football in the state. Presently we are inthe second division and we would like to move up in the future. Our team iscompetitive and we hope to achieve our dreams.

The club was formed in 1982 by a group of people keen onproviding the youth of the area a platform to develop skills in football. Theteam was created to provide direction to the youth in the area to help themdevelop skills useful to them and provide them direction in life.
