Gokuldas elected president of Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad

CANACONA: Noted Konkani writer Gokuldas Prabhu has been elected president of Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad for 2016-20.

The election took place at the Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji, under the chairmanship of writer and freedom fighter Nagesh Karmali.

Suffola Gaitonde and Gourish Vernekar were appointed as secretary and joint secretary respectively, while the three vice presidents representing Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka are Sunita Kanekar, Dr Chandrashekar Shenoy and Usha Rane, respectively.

Shashikant Punaji was elected as treasurer. All the posts were filled in a unanimous decision.

The committee executive members also elected unopposed are Sadanand Kanekar (Goa), Louis Rodrigues (Karnataka), R S Bhaskar (Kerala) and Rosario Pinto (Maharashtra).
