Police managed to arrest 28 Bangladeshis including onewoman, who had illegally infiltrated into India.
All of them were found living without any valid papers andwere arrested by Juna Rajwada police at Sambhajinagar area in Kolhapur.
Acting on specific information that some Bangladeshinationals were working as construction workers on a site of one BedekarDevelopers in Sambhajinagar, a police team visited the place and found 28Bangladeshis working and living there.
During questioning, it came to light that they had enteredinto India illegally from the porous border of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Theyalso said that they entered India as they were fed up of poverty andstarvation.
Police seized 21 mobile phones and SIM cards from some ofthem. All the arrested Bangladeshis werelater produced before the court and were later remanded to police custody forfurther investigation.
Police Inspector,Yashwant Kedge of Juna Rajwada police station informed that some of them werestaying in rented premises while some were accommodated by the contractor.
He further informed that the room owner and the contractorwho gave them shelter without any documentation will also be probed during theinvestigation.
“As the offence is of very serious nature which has highthreat to our country, the case will be jointly investigated by Mumbai Police,West Bengal Police and BSF,” PI, Kedge said.
During the course of investigation the role of two agentswho helped them out has also been revealed.
The agents had helped them to shift from West Bengal toMumbai to earn their daily bread. “We are also trying to trace these agentsboth in West Bengal and Mumbai,” Kegde informed.
“That 28 people were staying in Kolhapur for the last eightmonths and remained undetected is very shocking,” some Hindu organizations saidand have decried the total failure of intelligence by various authorities.
